Humanist Ceremonies: the Importance of Stories in Our Lives

Local storyteller, Andy Johnson, has 'a gentle, engaging style; a self-deprecating sense of humour and brings a warmth to all his stories'. He will be telling a traditional tale to introduce each of the evening's three sections - on the themes of 'End of Life', 'New Life' and 'Love and Commitment'. Our experienced and creative network of local humanist celebrants will then retell a real life story contained within one of the ceremonies they have led… including personal tributes from funerals; tales of becoming parents; and stories of meeting and falling in love.

Basically, we want to show off the quality of story-telling within humanist ceremonies - an integral part to how personal they are. And to highlight just how important it is for humans to make meanings through stories, we're comparing real life examples with traditional tales: we can guarantee that you'll enjoy both in equal measure!

The evening will include a half hour interval to offer attendees the opportunity to speak to our local celebrants and our compere and storyteller, Andy. The evening will conclude with a Q&A session with all the story-tellers from the night on hand to respond to your thoughts or queries.

Ticket required.
