Medicine Safety - the sting in the tail

Hospital pharmacist Adrian Brown will discuss 'adverse drug reactions' and the controls introduced to minimise patient risk - including the role of the industry, government agencies and health professionals. 'Headline' events such as Thalidomide will be used to illustrate the changing attitudes to drugs and toxicity.

Adrian was a hospital pharmacist for 40 years, most recently as Chief Pharmacist at Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust. He has regularly lectured to trainee pharmacists and medical staff on aspects of medicine safety and continues to teach on the non-medical prescribing course at Edge Hill University.
