Night Train

The second part of Elsewhere Cinema’s ‘WOMEN IN POLISH CINEMA’ season, which reflects on women’s representation and their changing role within Poland as well as on the experimental/cinematic quality of The Polish Film School.

NIGHT TRAIN presents a character study of two ordinary people searching for a new path in life, set almost entirely within an over night train carriage that a distressed woman finds herself sharing with a peculiar man, and a possible murder.

Kawalerowicz and his cinematographer Jan Kaskowski use rhythm, lighting, and setting to craft a mosaic of individual worlds and perspectives in this tense Hitchcockian style thriller.
