Black God White Devil

Think Cinema presents Black God White Devil the third screening in a season exploring the subversive aesthetics and revolutionary forms of film practice in the so-called “Third Cinema”.
Set in the drought-plagued Brazilian Sertao in 1940, the film tells the story of Manuel and Rosa, and their descent into a life of crime on a climate of superstition, physical and spiritual terrorism and fear that gripped the country. Ultimately, they will learn that the land belongs not to god or the devil but to people themselves.
