Inspired by avant-garde photographer Man Ray’s film ‘Emak Bakia’ (“Leave me alone” in Basque), the film follows Spanish photographer and filmmaker Oscar Alegria as he sets off on a journey to find the house in Biarritz, where Man Ray’s film was shot in 1926 and which bore the same peculiar name.
Alegria’s search is not a straightforward one, but one which is made up of one diversion after another. No one today remembers the house so the director has to employ the assistance of other informers, such as chance and the wind.
In Basque with English subtitles. All welcome.
