On Saturday 4 October, The Everyman will be transformed into a magical Fun Palace. It is part of a nationwide initiative to celebrate what would have been theatre director Joan Littlewood’s 100th Birthday.
We'd love your ideas, but so far, there’ll be a playwright in a lift, nitrous oxide drinks served in a laboratory bar and Sense of Sound performing call and response choral works. There’ll be a music room dedicated to dance, singing and drumming. Ad hoc workshops will encourage open-to-anyone jamming sessions.
YEP will perform pop-up plays in secret locations, while the Bright Phoenix company will throw open the auditorium doors so everyone can see what happens behind the scenes before a performance. Essentially, between the hours of 12-6pm on the day, every possible space in our building will be open and used for whatever creative purpose people can think of.
